Worship Ministries | Holy Trinity Parish

Acolytes assist in worship by carrying the crosses, lighting candles, carrying the Gospel book, carrying torches, assisting with the setup and clean up at the altar, swinging the censer or thurible, handling the offering plates, and performing any other tasks as seen fit by the priests.

The Evangelism Ministry includes two primary areas of responsibility:

The Greeters at the 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sunday services
The Newcomers Class, which organizes and meets seasonally.

Eucharistic Ministers include both chalice bearers who assist in distributing the wine at Eucharist, and Lectors, who read Holy Scripture and lead the Prayers of the People at services.Contact Fr. Rhett Solomon for more information.

The Lay Pastoral Ministry is HTP’s way to keep in touch with those members who have a pastoral need. Each week, volunteers send cards, visit, call, and deliver flowers or meals. Sometimes the occasions are happy (new baby), sad (a family death), difficult (illness or surgery), and sometimes, it’s just a social call.

At Sunday Coffee Hours, weekly volunteers serve fair-trade coffee, doughnuts, and light snacks after Sunday morning services.

The Flower Guild prepares arrangements for the Nave and Chapel, as well as for funerals, weddings, and other services.

The Altar Guild prepares the church for all of the services, polished the altar silver and brass, launders the altar linens, and orders supplies for worship.

Vergers at Holy Trinity serve at all worship services held in the Nave including Sunday Eucharists, funerals, and special services. They work closely with clergy, acolytes, altar guild members, and ushers to help make the service a worshipful experience for the congregation.

ASL Interpreters for members of the congregation who are deaf are regularly scheduled for the 10:30 a.m. Sunday services and for other services and events upon request. Interpreters have been provided for DOK meetings, Epiphany, Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil, Christmas services, English teas, ordinations, funerals, forums and discussion groups.

We at Holy Trinity Parish give thanks to God for the gift of spiritual maturity in our leadership. Spiritual maturity means we are able to focus on the work God gives us to do in the world. It means we are able to welcome new people, new experiences, and new challenges without fear or anxiety. It means we welcome diversity as a gift from God. You’ll find a richness here, with people trying to love God and one another all across the age and economic spectrums, and all across the political and cultural spectrums, too. You’ll find people who know the ancient rhythms of our worship by heart, people who are coming from other expressions of Christianity, and people who have little or no experience with Church.

Sunday Worship

8 a.m. Rite I in Chapel

10:30 a.m. Rite II with music in Nave and streaming on our YouTube Channel and facebook live.

When we gather for worship, we strive to glorify God with beautiful music, intentional silence, and words of both comfort and challenge. We also strive in our worship to welcome and include people of all ages and capabilities: people who wiggle and make noise, people whose cell phones go off, people who nod off during the sermon, people who can’t quite sing on key, and people who are so busy through the week that they struggle to “be still and know that you are God.”

If you are bringing young children to our worship, THANK YOU! and we challenge you to try to engage them in the holy drama of worship: teach them our prayers and how to hold a hymnal, show them when to stand or kneel, and use our worship bags to give busy hands something to do. Or if it is better for you or your children that they be in our nursery, it is professionally staffed from 8:00 a.m. until just before communion at the 10:30 a.m. service, and it is located on the second floor next to the chapel.

The faithful giving of all our members enables our ministries and our life together. Each week, we are nurtured in word and sacrament. We are called by God to care for those who are ill or hurting, and welcome all those searching for a community of faith.

We try to be a generous parish. Although giving levels vary in the congregation, all of us are asked to give in a way that reflects our commitment to living a generous life. I invite you to prayerfully consider how you might live life more generously.
