MLK Service Project
This service project has been on pause due to COVID in 2021 and 2022. We hope to be back in 2023.
The Decatur MLK Service Project, a large-scale volunteer initiative, provides free house maintenance and repair for Decatur’s needy senior homeowners each January. By completing needed repairs, painting, weatherization, adding handicap accessible features, and yard work, the project helps seniors live safely, comfortably, and affordably in their own homes.
“As a volunteer for the past five years, I can’t imagine missing a year. Aside from getting to know my fellow church members better, working with the homeowner and seeing the direct impact we can have in our local community is rewarding–not just physically, but spiritually. There is always a job for everyone, no matter your skill level.”

2020 was Holy Trinity’s eleventh year sponsoring a home during Decatur’s Martin Luther King Weekend Service Project! Since 2010, HTP has provided volunteers for more than 400 volunteer shifts and countless bag lunches from the Daughters of the King, and has successfully completed projects contributing to the safety and sustainability of neighbors’ homes.
