What is the Brotherhood of St Andrew and what is its purpose?

Brotherhood of St. AndrewWe are a group of men, part of an Episcopalian and Anglican organization that was established in Chicago in 1883. In 1908, Pres. Theodore Roosevelt signed an Act for our incorporation. Our three disciplines are Prayer, Study and Service. Here at Holy Trinity Parish, we meet twice monthly. We gather in the library at 7:30 PM on the second and fourth Mondays of every month.

We study the Bible using commonly available and popular texts. We prayerfully follow our own handbook which is aligned with that of the Episcopal Church. We pray with emphasis for our fellow parishoners especially, but also for all others in need.

We participate in the financial sponsorship of a young man at a Brotherhood-run school in Uganda. We support the Holy Trinity youth and especially our acolytes, with our participation and our funds. You’ll see us in and about the parish, perhaps in the kitchen or Parish Hall serving a Low-Country Boil!

While called “the Brotherhood”, we are not a club, a mystical or secret society. The name comes from Saint Andrew, the first man to lead his brother, Peter, to Jesus (John 1:41).

We invite any man in the parish to join us in our prayer, study and service. Again, we meet in the library at 7:30 PM on the second and fourth Mondays.
