- Evangelism
You are here: Holy Trinity Parish > Parish Life > Evangelism
The evangelism ministry at Holy Trinity is structured into five areas: Invite, welcome, introduce, include, and send.
Invite
This area utilizes our communications ministry. The intent is to let people know they are welcome at Holy Trinity. The communications committee gives priority to this message. Interfacing with the community through our electronic and print media, through special programs aimed at the community, and through educating parishioners to invite friends and neighbors to Holy Trinity comprises the bulk of this work.
Welcome
Welcoming people as guests is the aim of this area. The welcoming committee and the greeters are the leaders. Vestry members join the greeters on a rotating basis. The use of name tags is encouraged. Guest follow-up is in place. Hospitality is a key concern.
Introduce
The third area of evangelism engages guests/newcomers in small groups. Here people are introduced to the parish and the Episcopal Church. Classes, newcomer parties, and special events are the primary means of introduction. In addition, there are service opportunities, such as serving meals at Hagar House, participating in a mission, or attending a green event that helps to introduce folks to Holy Trinity.
Include
This is ministry of assimilating people into the parish. It moves beyond introducing. We are charged with helping people discover their calls and their passions in serving God. Opportunities for service and leadership and change are offered. Inclusion in this sense means not only bringing people on board but listening to them, challenging them, and growing with them.
Send
Equipping people to serve Christ in the world is an important part of evangelism. At Holy Trinity we express that in our mission statement: To open hearts to God and doors to community. Enabling others to know the joy of serving Christ is the fifth step in the ministry of evangelism.
